I'll be adding pics of my project tonight :) Hooray!

Hat Failure.

I wanted to make a cute "squarish" hat; 2x2 rib; pom poms at the corners... so i cast on some number of stitches using some left over EcoWool and started knitting.

I really should have thought more about what I was doing, since, well, THIS is the result:

Yes, it is technically wearable on my head...but I think I'm going to turn it into an ACTUAL bag instead.

Knitters without Borders

So...I'm sure that my few readers are already aware of the devastation in Haiti caused by the earthquake last week. I simply couldn't sit by and do nothing, but I wasn't sure what to do. A post from one of my favorite knit bloggers, the Yarn Harlot, put me into action: I donated to Doctors without Borders.

The Yarn Harlot tracks all donations made by knitters; since last Wednesday, the total has gone up by ~$234,000, and all of the donations have yet to be added in.

If you're wondering what you can do to help, donate to doctors without borders. No amount is too big or too small

I'm alive...and knitting

I was gently reminded this morning that I have a blog :)

...but never fear! I have been knitting, but its been in between work, and my new hobby, Roller Derby (I joined Seattle's banked track league, the Tilted Thunder Rail Birds)

This past Saturday, we had a league photoshoot, and I was there, with my knitting!

Yes, I'm supposed to look french - my skater name is Sock Rae Blue! :)

Pirate's Booty Socks

Ahoy, Matey! 'Tis some Heavyweight Socks that Rock in tha Pirate's Booty Colorway. I bought this yarn from Churchmouse last summer, and once we moved into the rental house and it got cold, I knew what it would be: thick socks to wear around the house & keep my feets warm.

I used the ribbing pattern from the international sock of doom, but worked the sock itself toe-up with a short row heel.

best. sock. project. bag. ever.

I got this cute little bag at the Urban Craft Uprising this past December from a vendor called "Heavens to Betsie". I was supposed to be shopping for Christmas presents for others, but when I saw this bag, it called out to me...actually it screamed "PUT YOUR SOCK PROJECTS IN ME!" And, well, since I like bags, who was I to resist? The thing you can't see in the picture is that the actual exterior is plastic...as in, your sharp little size 1 dpns won't be poking through and making holes in your awesome bag. If you're in Seattle, the woman who makes these is at Pike Place Market (Store is "Heavens to Betsie" -- she also sells some awesome potholders and larger bags too!)

Better Late than Never?

Ok, so I'm WAY behind on the blogging (happy Spring, by the way). The "broken camera" was really an issue of mixing two supposedly the same rechargeable batteries (that had been bought 2 years apart). Long and complicated story short; only one battery would ever be charged at a time and that is not enough power for the camera.

I've got a backlog of stuff to blog about, but instead of making this one humongous post and then disappearing for a while, I figured I'd dole out the blog posts a little at a time in an attempt to be a better knit blogger :)

First is the wonderful package I received in the Caffeine addicts Valentine's Day Swap:

There was coffee in there too, but I broke into that quite quickly :) I couldn't believe how spoiled I was by my partner! I'm having a friend from my knitting group dye the cherry tree hill sock yarn for me (super excited about this!)
